Project

A recent 8 month long Darke Engineering project in Aberdeenshire required the reinforcment of an existing pipeline with 1.8km of 12” 300NB high pressure gas pipeline, operating at a MOP of 69.0 bar.

The route ran alongside the existing 10” 250NB pipeline and crossed it at 2 points.

The South connection required the existing pig trap flanges to be removed by cold cutting and the pipeline commenced with a golden weld and the North connection included pig trap connection to facilitate inline inspection. There was also a connection to the existing 250mm pipeline using a hot tap and under pressure drilling.

Minimum cover of 1.2m.

The route was 1.8km in length and laid at a minimum cover of 1.2m. and along the pipeline route there were several special crossings, requiring Heavy Wall pipe and machined transitioned sections.
